Members on Moderation – PLEASE READ

Hello Chicago Freecycle(TM) Members,

Are you ready to be un-moderated?

Freecycle is designed so that members can be as independent of moderators as possible. When un-moderated members post to the group, their messages automatically go to the board and to members who receive postings in their email (digest or individual emails), without having to be approved by the Volunteer Moderators. The only exception to this is if you use a word we currently have on our HotList such as sell, borrow, etc.

In order to be un-moderated on this group you need have the following criteria:

1 - You have been a member for at least 2 months

2 – You have posted according to the Etiquette rules

3 – You have at least 3 consecutive posts without the messages being rejected or edited

4 – Your posts that we review must be active on the group. Posts are deleted from the site after 180 days. We must have at least 3 consecutive posts that are active on the group. If you post once every 3-6 months, we will not be able to review your membership.

***Please note, Taken and Received posts do not count towards the 3 posts as they are done by clicking a link on the group.

If you meet these qualifications, you may be eligible to be un-moderated. When you are un-moderated, you need to be extra careful before clicking "send."

While the group list is not monitored, the Volunteer Moderators do review the postings to insure that the messages to the group are Freecycle appropriate. Anyone not following these guidelines will be put back onto moderation immediately.

If you believe that you should be taken off of moderation, please contact the Chicago Freecycle Volunteer Moderation Team at the moderator address of: chicagofreecycle@mods.freecycle.org

Please include your email address and username in your response.

At that time we will then review your membership and past posts to the group to see if you can be removed from moderation.
