Save those items from Landfill

As members of Freecycle you are no doubt aware of our commitment to keep items out of landfill. As well as having a positive impact on the environment around us, in this tough economic climate it makes sense to recycle where possible. From the numerous emails we receive from both recipients and gifters it’s obvious the tremendous pleasure that can be gained from recycling with Freecycle. Sadly, this message doesn’t seem to be getting through. We received this email from Freja, a loyal Wrexham member. “Yesterday I went to Oswestry tip and saw such waste it made me livid! In the "metal" skip alone there were toolboxes full of tools, a kids bike and lovely wrought-iron gates!!! - and not a bit of publicity suggesting using Freecycle or donating to charities!!! On the way home, I passed a skip where someone had thrown away chairs and a lovely clean double mattress! All this waste, when young families and people on low incomes are scrabbling round to pay basic bills makes me fume with anger! Come on all you lovely freecyclers, spread the word - be evangilistic! We all know just how fantastic freecycle is, now it's time to tell everyone else! Let's try and put a stop to some of this shocking waste! FREJA X” So what can we do about it? Spread the word, tell your friends, neighbours, workmates, anyone who will listen about our great little community. If it helps, we have created some posters and wallet size cards for you to print and hand out which you can find in the “Files” section. Together, we can save those items from Landfill.
