Freecycle.org Etiquette and Guidelines Revisions
We have made a few revisions to the group Etiquette & Guidelines document and wanted you to be aware. We sent the document out to all of you, but here is basic a breakdown of the changes:
- Items left on someone's curb/driveway/porch on a first-come-first-served basis are no longer permitted. We used to let these go so often as long as they weren't "curb alerts" where someone was announcing something that they just saw on the street, but we're starting to see more and more of them. Freecycle.org is a community, so we need to collaborate with other members and arrange pickups so that people don't waste their time traveling across town for something that has already been taken.
- Only one item per OFFER post. You can make as many OFFER posts as you like, but use one post for each item to avoid confusion and make it easier to mark things as TAKEN.
- We are keeping a list of people who are reported as no-shows to keep track of whether anyone makes a habit of it. If someone accepts an item from you and then does not show to pick it up, please let the moderators know, and we will take action if we find that the person does this a lot.
- Please make sure to mark your posts TAKEN, RECEIVED, or CANCELLED, as appropriate once an exchange has been made or your post has gone a while without any response. It will cut down on the number of emails you receive and make things easier on everyone else.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. Thank you all for being a part of this great community, and happy Freecycling!
