Museum Freecycle UK
Welcome to the Museum Freecycle UK Freecycle group!
The Freecycle Network™ is made up of 5,303 groups with 804 members across the globe. It's a grassroots and entirely nonprofit movement of people who are giving (and getting) stuff for free in their own towns and thus keeping good stuff out of landfills.
Membership is free, and everything posted must be FREE, legal and appropriate for all ages. To view the items being given away or sought in Museum Freecycle UK, you must be a member of the group. This group is an entirely new, beta concept for members of the UK museum sector only. Most groups are open to all members of a local community. This group is only open to UK accredited museums and associated organisations. For this reason, each new member must be approved. Please apply with your organisation email address to help the moderators. This is where you can post build items that you no longer require and don't have room to store -- you pick the recipient museum. The recipient picks up the item when and where you want. You eliminate shipping costs, disposal fees and keep tons of good stuff out of the landfill. And this enables other museums to leverage their capabilities by getting good free build materials for their next exhibition and other museum equipment. A win-win if ever there were one. Tell your colleagues at other museums. The more museums participating, the better it is for all.
