The Reston Freecycle Group plans to continue to allow posts as long as we can comply with local/state government guidelines. We do ask that you limit your posting to the most useful items, but we will let you make your own judgments about what you think might be useful to someone else. However, please refrain from posting any item that requires in-person pickup. We are likely to remove furniture posts from the board unless the post clearly states that an in-person pickup is not necessary.
Here are a few common-sense guidelines to consider in these very trying times:
*Please don't offer items or respond to offers if you're under quarantine for illness or for exposure to a known source of the virus.
*Post only items that are easily disinfected, amenable to porch pickup, and useful under the current situation. Use the same criteria when responding to posts.
*When you pick up items, please disinfect them as thoroughly as you can, and don't forget to sanitize your hands, your steering wheel and any other surfaces you may have possibly contaminated in the process. Once you get an item home, consider putting it aside for a few days to give time for viruses to naturally disappear.
*Please avoid in-person transactions. Now is not the time to post large, heavy items that require in-person transactions.
Freecycle is about reduce/reuse/recycle, but it's also about healthy communities. Please stay healthy, everyone. This is the time for social distancing / distantly socializing.
