Freecycle.org wants to help Greater Houston!
Freecycle.org would like to offer its support to the community after the terrible devastation of Hurricane Harvey. We hope that representatives of organizations supporting hurricane victims will reach out to the community through this list and provide lists of items that are needed, along with drop-off points. We have compiled an initial list which we hope will guide members in the right direction. The following organizations may be accepting item donations that will directly benefit the Houston and surrounding areas:
Houston Humane Society https://www.houstonhumane.org 713-433-6421. Items needed: Dog and cat food, cat litter, dog and cat treats, bedding, toys. Also needed: Foster homes
Houston Food Bank is accepting nonperishable food donations at grocery stores around the Houston area. Please see this page for more information: http://www.houstonfoodbank.org/donate/redbarrel/
Shelters are reporting the need for bedding, towels, wheelchairs, walkers, non-perishable foods, bottled water, diapers, pillows and basic toiletries. For a list of shelters in your area, please visit http://www.khou.com/news/local/list-harvey-shelters-around-houston-area/468037262 .

We would also like to take this opportunity to remind members that this group does not have a local moderator. A good local moderator could be a great help to the community, especially in times like these. If you are interested in applying to moderate this group, please contact us via the "Contact moderators" link on your group's homepage at www.freecycle.org
